COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Pyramid Contracting has been named to Varco Pruden’s 2023 Hall of Fame for their construction project at MIWON Specialty Chemicals, USA in Columbia, South Carolina. The 48,960-square-foot manufacturing structure was completed in February 2022. This project earned Hall of Fame recognition as the Best-in-Class Winner in the Manufacturing Category.

The highly competitive Hall of Fame Awards are presented annually to the independent authorized VP Builders whose work reflects innovation and excellence using Varco Pruden building systems by creating exceptional architectural appearance, efficient design, and effective end-use. The projects include a range of industrial, commercial, retail, and municipal projects.

Varco Pruden Buildings is one of the nation’s largest building-solutions companies. Varco Pruden is a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., and has a network of nearly 1,000 builders across the United States and Canada.

MIWON was a design-build project for Pyramid Contracting and architects DesignEDGE, LLC. The project is comprised of four independent buildings and a Tank Farm. The building functions included Utility, Process, Storage, and Office buildings.

All power, gas, water, fire sprinkler supply and pumps, boilers, and chillers are housed in the Utility Building. The Process Building’s significant features include containment walls, second and third-floor structural steel mezzanine systems, a pipe rack system, and an interior bridge crane supported by the Varco Pruden (VP) System columns. The Storage Building has 4,500 square footage of enclosed and climatized storage within the overall 18,000-square-foot structure. Leveraging the VP’s Fast-Track platform, Pyramid built the 5,280 square-foot office building in under 90 days to include a lab, toilets/showers/locker rooms, a break room, offices, and training rooms.

“The Hall of Fame is proof positive that our builders continue to challenge the boundaries by seeking new and innovative ways to prove that Metal Building Systems are the system of choice,” said Paul Day, president of Varco Pruden.
